Part 1 of 3 · Helpful actions
Start smaller than you think
‘Sort out the apartment’ is a mountain. ‘Put these two mugs in the sink’ has a place to begin.
Choose an entry point
Waiting until motivation arrives can leave a task untouched. Sometimes a small action comes first. Choose a useful task and shrink it to something realistic for your energy, access, and physical limits.
Permission to stop
Decide where you can stop before beginning. This is not a trick to make yourself finish everything. Rest and help from someone else are valid options.
What it looks like
Dev has avoided a pile of post. Today's step is to open one envelope, not solve every bill. They stop there and ask someone trusted to help with the next decision.
Try it now
Name one task, its smallest useful first action, and a time you might try it. Afterwards notice what made starting easier or harder, without grading yourself.
